We can prescribe a medication called norethisterone, a synthetic hormone that helps delay your period safely. You’ll usually start taking the tablets 3 days before your period is due and continue for as long as you want to delay it (up to 17 days). Your period should then start 2–3 days after you stop taking the tablets.
This treatment is not a form of contraception, so if you’re sexually active and don’t want to get pregnant, you should continue using your usual contraception.
